Bring Neighbourhood Watch To Your Community

Feb 12, 2015 12:55 ET

Residents are encouraged to be proactive in keeping their communities safe by joining with neighbours to reduce the opportunity for crime.

Neighbours working together and knowing each others routines can combat crime in the most effective way before it starts. Contacting police when an unknown and suspicious person is nearby, or when an unexpected moving van has pulled up to your neighbour's driveway could very well stop a crime before it occurs.

Large crowds turned out for recent Neighbourhood Watch launches in the Rosebank community of Pickering and the Kedron community of Whitby. There are over 180 programs currently operating in Durham Region and that number continues to grow and residents continue to take action.
