DRPS members joined with hundreds of officers from across Ontario to march in memory of those who have lost their lives while keeping our communities safe.
The 16th annual Ontario Police Memorial Foundation Ceremony of Remembrance took place at Queen's Park Circle in downtown Toronto on Sunday morning (May 3th. 2015).
For the first time, the DRP contingent was led by Chief Paul Martin, who became the seventh chief of the DRP in June 2014.
This year, one more name was added to the Wall of Honour, a stone monument on the east side of Queen's Park Circle. Cst. J. Prevett, Thunder Bay PS will have his name added to the Wall of Honour. Two historical officers will also be added; Cpl M. Dinning, Military Police (2006) and Cst J. Acton, Toronto Police (1908).
This year, the "Ceremony of Remembrance" was held in front of the Legislature, as the Memorial site is currently under construction. The DRP Pipes & Drums led the DRP contingent and the sound of the pipes and drums filled the air.
