Pow Wow Celebrates First Nation on Scugog Island

Jul 18, 2015 17:51 ET

Members of the Durham Regional Police Service were proud to participate in the 19th annual Pow Wow at the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation (MSIFN) near Port Perry on Saturday July 18th.

About 70 members of our Youth In Policing summer student program were on hand and enjoyed learning more about the Mississaugas and participating in dancing with First Nations members, who came from across Ontario for the event.

Superintendent George Dmytruk, Cst. Corey Walsh, Cst. Pam Devine and HR Director Lesley Ford were among the DRP members who attended and enjoyed the day.

The great food, friendship and sunny skies made the event a great success!
