Nov 10, 2015 14:51 ET

Members of the DRPS Auxiliary Unit were recently recognized for their hard work and commitment at a dinner held at Deer Creek Banquet Facility in Ajax.

Auxiliary Constable Sue Baxter was named Auxiliary Officer of the Year and presented with the award by Deputy Chief Chris Fernandes , Auxiliary Inspector Jason Pow and PSB member Bobbi Drew. Sue was chosen for her ongoing commitment and dedication to the unit. The award was created in memory of Sharon Bowdring, a founding DRPS Auxiliary member.

A special presentation took place for retired Auxiliary Sergeant Gavin Alston. Gavin was recognized for 25 years of combined service with both the OPP and DRP Auxiliary Units.

Seven Auxiliary members were also recognized for their 5, 10 and 15 years of dedicated service.
Several members of the DRPS were on hand to celebrate and congratulate the unit for the hard work they do every day.

The Auxiliary Unit plays a huge role here at DRPS and the unwavering support of its members is truly amazing. By the end of 2015 the Auxiliary Unit will have assisted with over 230 events and performed over 20,800 hours.

Thank you to everyone and congratulations!
