Members of the police services board and the DRP dropped by Clarington Council's General Government Committee to talk about local issues and identify priorities for our next Business Plan.
The Nov. 30th morning session wraps up the municipal council consultations that have occured this fall. The ideas and suggestions received through these consultations will be used to create policing priorities in the 2017-2019 Strategic Business Plan of the Durham Regional Police Service.
Board member Bill McLean introduced the presentation and said consultations with local councils is an important part of the business planning process. Also in attendance were Chief Paul Martin, Deputy Chief Chris Fernandes, East Division Inspector Rolf Kluem and several senior staff.
Mayor Adrian Foster and members of the Committee identified a number of important local issues, such as traffic management in residential areas and onging efforts to keep the community informed about police activities. The Nov. 30th consultation was the last of nine local council consultations (eight municipalities and the Regional Council).
A great way for members of the community to offer feedback about policing is through the current public opinions survey now online at www.drps.ca/survey.
