Don't let the mild December weather hamper your holiday spirit when it comes to giving back this year. Donations are needed for the DRPS Food and Toy Drive, which wraps up on December 23.
Organizer Cst. Paul Hawrychuk says donations are down for all age groups this year, but especially when it comes to items for babies and teens. Residents are encouraged to donate items including baby toys, clothing and bottles, as well as gift cards and games for older kids.
Donations can be dropped off at any police station across the region, along with Regional Headquarters in Whitby. Each year items from the Food and Toy Drive are given to local community agencies and distributed to families in need across the region.
As you finish off your shopping over the next week, please take a moment to pick up a gift or food item for those less fortunate in our community.
