Ball Hockey In Support of Mental Health

Feb 25, 2016 13:25 ET

DRPS members and a team of All Stars from Ontario Shores recently enjoyed a friendly game of ball hockey in support of mental health.

The annual Scrimmage at Ontario Shores featured special guests including former Whitby Dunlop defenceman Matt Cardwell . Deputy Chief Chris Fernandes brought greetings and encouraged players to have fun while taking part in this special event.

It was a tight game with DRPS winning 9-8 in overtime!

The annual game aims to strengthen the mutual relationship between DRPS and Ontario Shores to support those with mental illness. It also builds bridges between patients and police.

Successful partnerships continue to grow between our DRPS Mental Health Support Unit and members of Ontario Shores, along with those in crisis in the community.

Thanks to everyone who came out to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon.
