Raising the Flag for Special Olympics

Mar 17, 2016 10:29 ET

In advance of the Special Olympics Ontario 2016 Provincial School Championships being held in Oshawa on June 1-2, a Flag Relay is now underway across Ontario.

Knights of Columbus (KOC) Districts across Ontario are showing their support of the Games by raising six Special Olympic flags at police facilities across Ontario, until mid-May. Ontario Police Services have been longtime supporters of Special Olympics Ontario (SOO) and help sponsor Torch Run fundraisers as well as local, regional and provincial games each year.

The SOO flag was raised on March 16th at North Division for the day and will be raised March 17 at our Whitby station. The six flags have already been raised for the day in Ottawa, Pembroke, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Windsor, Kingston and Mississauga, to name a few.

The DRPS is proud to host the 2016 Provincial School Championships in association with the City of Oshawa, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Durham College, Rogers TV and Durham Transit.
