Several members of DRPS were in attendance at the General Sikorski Hall in Oshawa this past weekend as PFLAG honoured one of our officers.
Constable Pam Devine received the PFLAG Award for being "A Champion Against Homophobia and Transphobia."
She was honoured for her roles as our liaison officer with the LGBTQ Youth Open Doors initiative; co-chair of the Community Involved Committee (Regional LGBTQ Committee); organizer for all DRPS Pride events and PFLAG "Train the Trainer" facilitator.
Cst. Devine is the third DRPS member to receive this recognition. Acting Sgt Keith Richards and Supt. George Dmytruk have received it in past years.
When PFLAG started out it stood for Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays. Today PFLAG Canada is a brand name inclusive to all sexual orientations and gender identities/expressions.
