Families from across the region will be heading to Elgin Pond in Uxbridge for a day of fishing and fun as the 13th Annual Huck Finn Day kicks off April 23.
DRPS is partnering with the annual event hosted by Canadian Tire in Uxbridge and will feature a parade, free bait and fishing, lunch and lots of prizes. Attendees can bring their own fishing gear or the Pickering Rod and Gun Club will also be lending out gear.
The DRPS Marine Unit will be on hand along with several Auxiliary members. Community Resource Officer Kristy Frech has been attending the event for the past few years and encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the day.
"This is such a great day out for families with children of all ages," she says. "Each year we watch it grow and we hope to see even more people out this year."
Thanks to Pat Higgins of Uxbridge Canadian Tire and the many local sponsors that make the event possible. The festivities get under way at 9:00 a.m. See the attached poster for more information.
