Families from across the region enjoyed the bright sun and crisp temperatures as the 14th Annual "Huck Finn" Youth Fishing Derby was held Saturday at Elgin Pond in Uxbridge.
Members of North Division, the Marine Unit and Auxiliary Officers met members of the public and had as much fun at the event as the many families involved.
The DRPS is an annual partner in the event, made possible by the generous involvement of Canadian Tire in Uxbridge and owner Pat Higgins. Festivities include a parade, free bait and fishing, lunch and lots of prizes. Attendees can bring their own fishing gear or the Pickering Rod and Gun Club will lend some out.
North Division Community Resource Officer Kristy Frech has been attending the event for the past few years and loves to meet local citizens.
"This is such a great day out for families with children of all ages," she says. "Each year we watch it grow and we saw even more people out this year."
Thanks to Pat Higgins of Uxbridge Canadian Tire for making this event possible through his generous donation and the many local sponsors that make the event possible.
