Serving a Smile on McHappy Day

May 04, 2016 13:28 ET

DRPS officers are joining community leaders from across Durham Region as they participate in the 23rd Annual McHappy Day. One dollar from every Big Mac, Happy Meal or McCafe beverage sold is automatically donated to support local charities.

Several members of DRPS are out for the event at locations across the region to serve customers coffee, lunch and a smile. With a purchase you will be supporting local children's charities and over 20,000 families across Canada each year, who are staying at Ronald McDonald House while their kids are being treated. The charity provides a "home away from home" for seriously ill children and their families to heal together.

Since McHappy Day was first introduced in 1977, the event has raised more than $47 million for Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada, along with Ronald McDonald Houses and local children's charities across the country.
