Chief Paul Martin attended the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir and Cultural Centre in Ajax on Sunday.
In an effort to strengthen our bonds and celebrate the diversity of our community partners, members of the Hanuman Mandir temple welcomed Chief Martin to attend their Sunday service. Chief Martin received a first-hand introduction to the values and practices of Hinduism in a service led by Pt. Ruby.
In an honourary ceremony, Chief Martin received the Shawl (sacred garland), Mouli (the holy book), and Tika (religious marking on the forehead).
Chief Martin addressed the congregation following the service, speaking about the importance of embracing all cultures and faiths in our community and thanking members for their contributions. The Chief stayed for lunch and met and spoke with many members of the congregation. The experience was fun for all involved.
The Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir and Cultural Centre, located on Westney Road in Ajax, opened in 2011 and celebrates Hinduism, offering a place for Hindus of all ages to worship and learn more about their faith.
