Officers from Central East Division partnered with Durham Region Housing to throw a summer kick-off party for a community in Oshawa. More than 100 kids and their families gathered at the Lakeview Harbourside complex for fun, food and prizes. The kids were treated to crafts, face painting and balloon animals while they learned about staying safe this summer.
The Brain Injury Clinic was on hand giving out helmets and teaching kids about the importance of protecting their heads when riding bikes and scooters--complete with a broken egg test to simulate how helmets shield us from injuries. And the Durham Region Health Department was also there to discuss summer safety tips with the families.
Csts. Joylene MacNeil and Jennifer Kavanagh helped plan the event and were on hand to enjoy the fun. They also were able to surprise the two lucky kids who won the big prize draws: bikes donated by Canadian Tire Stores in Oshawa.
Central East Division would like to thank their partners Durham Region Housing and Health, the Brain Injury Clinic and Canadian Tire for their support.
