Our Youth in Policing (YIP) students had a fun and educational weekend as they attended the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nations Pow Wow on Saturday, July 16th.
Sixty-five YIP students, along with members of DRPS, spent the day outdoors at the Mississaugas of Scugog Island fairgrounds, where they had the opportunity to learn more about the Mississaugas culture. The students participated in an intertribal dancing ceremony and tried amazing food. Most importantly, they had the chance to interact with members of the First Nations community, who came to the Pow Wow from all over Ontario to participate in the event, while promoting the Youth in Policing program.
The annual First Nations Pow Wow was a great success and allowed all in attendance to celebrate culture and friendship.
