Forty-three Grade 9 students from across the region gathered at DRPS Headquarters in Whitby Wednesday as "Take Our Kids To Work Day" was celebrated across the country.
The program enables the students to see what their parents or guardians do at work and to better understand the company or organization they are visiting for the day. It also gives them the opportunity to explore policing as a future career option.
The students were welcomed by Chief Paul Martin and will spend the day learning about all areas of policing including our E-crimes, Recruiting, Traffic Services, Air1, K-9, Communications and Drug Enforcement Units.
Take Our Kids to Work Day is a national program of The Learning Partnership and has existed since 1994. More than 250,000 Canadian teens and 75,000 workplaces take part every year.
