  Black History Month Celebrations

DRPS is partnering with the Region of Durham and the Canadian Jamaican Club of Durham for a celebration launch of Black History Month.

This event is being held on Monday January 30, 2017, from 11a.m.-12 p.m.at Regional Headquarters, Upper Galleria, 605 Rossland Road East in Whitby.

A number of events are planned to commemorate Black History month, including the unveiling of a police vehicle wrapped specially to symbolize our solidarity with the Black community.

DRPS and the Region will also be raising the Pan-African National flag as part of the ceremony. A small reception will take place in the lobby of RHQ featuring an International market place with sample food items. The choir from Pickering High school will sing the Canadian National Anthem and the Black National Anthem, followed by a featured speaker Bernice Carnegie who will talk about Black history in Durham Region.

Everyone is welcome to attend this event to celebrate Black History Month.
