Raising money together to help children in need, on Wednesday DRPS officers joined forces with McDonald's restaurants across Durham Region for the annual McHappy Day fundraiser supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada.
Throughout the day community members were attended by members of DRPS at locations across the region serving customers coffee, lunch and smiles.
One dollar from every Big Mac, Happy Meal or McCafe beverage sold is automatically donated to support local children's charities and 30,000 families across Canada. Ronald McDonald House provides a home for out-of-town families to stay while their seriously ill children are being treated at a nearby hospital.
Since McHappy Day was first introduced in 1977, the event has raised more than $47 million for Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada, along with Ronald McDonald Houses and local children's charities across the country.
