  Junior YIP Campers Learn Leadership

Aug 17, 2017 14:33 ET

Once again the annual Junior Youth in Policing (YIP) Leadership Camp has delivered an entertaining, exciting and informative week for more than 100 youth.

Bridging the gap between youth and police officers, the camp aims to inspire young people to become agents of change within their schools and communities.

Organized by our 2017 YIP summer students, it facilitates a positive and enriched mentorship experience between our Youth in Policing students and the junior YIP campers.

Throughout the week the campers, aged 10-13, have participated in various hands-on activities and saw presentations from DRPS' Tactical Support Unit and K-9 Unit.

Wrapping up on Friday, Aug. 18, the junior campers will participate in a scavenger hunt in the morning and finish with a special graduation ceremony in the afternoon.
