Throughout the month of October, members of DRPS were seen wearing personalized pink epaulets and pink ribbon pins in support of breast cancer awareness.
The initiative, led by DRPS member Pauline McKnight of Communications and supported by several units, raised over $5,500 in support of agencies that assist those dealing with cancer in our community.
At a presentation Monday at Regional Headquarters in Whitby, Chief Martin and Pauline presented a cheque for $3,500 to Irena of Hearth Place cancer support centre in Oshawa. Fundraising efforts will also support the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre.
Both of these important centres provide programming and support for those dealing with cancer in Durham Region.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this important initiative!
