Whitby Police Office is on the Move

Jun 04, 2004 06:33 ET

Members of the Whitby Community Police Office are eagerly anticipating the move to a new and larger facility that will better serve the public, police officers and emergency service personnel.

Sworn and civilian members of the Whitby station have been packing all week in preparation for the move on Saturday, June 5th from the old station at 650 Rossland Road East to the new, state-of-the-art facility at 480 Taunton Road East.

The new office will be open for business by 8:00 a.m. Monday morning and will serve the public from Monday to Friday between 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. A phone has been installed in the front lobby of the new facility to link the public with the police communications centre after-hours.

Also moving into the facility are the DRP Victim Services Unit, Traffic Services Unit and several other units.

A grand opening celebration of the new police facility is scheduled for June 25, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. At 1:00 p.m. the same day, further celebrations will be held to officially open the new Emergency Medical Services located on the same property. Access to the EMS facility is available on Anderson Road.
