  Saying Goodbye to K-9 Trux

Nov 12, 2004 08:33 ET

One of Durham Regional Police's most successful crime fighting weapons has retired.

Trux, a 10-year-old German Shepherd completed his final shift last night, capping a nine-year policing career involving well over 200 arrests. On an average night shift, he is called out four times.

Handler PC Chris Crosby met the media with Trux Nov. 12th at Headquarters for a more public goodbye. Both joined the DRPS in 1999 after a celebrated career with the Toronto Police Service. PC Crosby will now join the Oshawa Community Police Office and his roster spot filled in the K-9 unit by PC Bryan Armstrong and his dog Mako, a Malinois.
