  DRP Honoured with a Canada Day and Muslim Heritage Award

Durham Regional Police received the Canada Day and Muslim Heritage award at the 7th annual celebration recently. The Association of Progressive Muslims of Canada presented the award to DRP in front of 300 people including community leaders, businessmen and government officials.

“We are extremely pleased to be recognized by the Association of Progressive Muslims of Canada for our role within Durham Region,” said Deputy Chief Rod Piukkala. “The positive relationship we have with the Association has led to many positive relationships within our diverse community.”

DRP was recognized for excellence in community service, on-going partnerships with various diverse communities, and making Durham Region a much safer place to live. Deputy Chiefs Piukkala and Chuck Mercier were on-hand to receive the award.
