Staff Sergeant Eva Reti has been chosen to receive the 2005 International Association of Women Police “Officer of the Year”. S/Sgt. Reti will be in Leeds, England from Sep. 10-15 to accept the award at the IAWP annual conference.
Earlier this year, S/Sgt. Reti won Law Enforcement Professional of the Year at the Ontario Women in Law Enforcement awards. This achievement allowed her to be nominated for “Officer of the Year”. Each nominee must distinguish themselves in all four areas: Leadership, Community Service, Mentoring, and Excellence in Performance. The 20-year veteran was chosen for her dedication and her outstanding service throughout her career.
S/Sgt. Reti joined the Durham Regional Police Service in 1985 as a uniform patrol officer in Pickering. In 1998 she became the first female detective assigned to the Homicide Unit. A few short years later, S/Sgt. Reti was promoted to the rank she currently holds and is now the Patrol Services Leader at the Oshawa Community Police Office.
Durham Regional Police congratulates S/Sgt. Reti on her accomplishments.
