Two DRP officers, Constable Bart Campbell and Constable Greg O'Connor, were awarded with Letters of Recognition at the Toronto Police Services Awards Presentation on Oct. 12.
A Letter of Recognition is granted to officers in acknowledgement of excellence in performance of duty, community policing initiatives, or innovations or initiatives that assist or enhance the image or operation of the Service.
On June 28, 2004, Csts. Campbell and O'Connor became involved in an investigation regarding a suspect wanted by the TPS. It was determined the suspect was associated to an address in Pickering.
While conducting surveillance on the address, Constables Campbell and O'Connor observed the suspect pull into the driveway. A high-risk vehicle stop resulted in the arrest of two suspects and subsequent search led to the seizure of a fully loaded firearm, a quantity of ammunition, approximately 93 grams of cocaine, a quantity of marihuana, and cash.
In recognition of their quick response and professionalism, both Constables will be awarded with a Letter of Recognition.
Dr. Alok Mukherjee, Vice-Chair of the TPS Board and TPS Chief of Police Bill Blair presented the award in the Headquarters lobby at 40 College Street.
Congratulations to Constables Bart Campbell and Greg O'Connor on their achievement!
