Mike Ewles At Home in Whitby

Jun 14, 2002 05:16 ET

Inspector Mike Ewles, a 20-year veteran with the Durham Regional Police, is the new Leader of the Whitby Community Police Office.

Inspector Ewles replaces Inspector Greg Reid, who retired recently after six years at the post. Even though he’s now just settling in, Inspector Ewles already feels at home – he’s lived in Whitby for almost 20 years and undertook his recruit training there.

He was warmly received on June 9th at the annual Whitby Community Day, when hundreds of citizens came out to the police station on Rossland Road for a day of fun and activity.

Inspector Ewles has a diverse policing background, with front line experience in Ajax, Oshawa and Pickering and lots of supervisory experience, including his most recent assignment as a Regional Duty Inspector. He has served with the Tactical Support Unit and the Criminal Investigative Bureau, has led platoons in Ajax and Pickering and was instrumental in the design and construction of the new police facility on Highway 12 north of Manchester while serving as the Administrative Staff Sergeant in North Durham.
