Delivering top quality cancer care to more than 100,000 families in and around Durham Region, DRPS donated over $2,000 to R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on January 10.
Chief Paul Martin and DRPS member Pauline McKnight of Communications presented the cheque to Julie Cooke, development officer with the Lakeridge Health Foundation.
Throughout the month of October, members of DRPS were seen wearing personalized pink epaulets and pink ribbon pins in support of breast cancer awareness.
This new initiative, led by Ms. McKnight, was strongly supported by several units and raised over $5,500 in support of agencies that assist those dealing with cancer in our community.
Recently, a cheque for $3,500 was donated to Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre in Oshawa from this fundraising effort.
Both of these important centres provide programming and support for those dealing with cancer in Durham Region.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this important initiative!
