The Youth In Policing Initiative, supported by the Durham Regional Police Service, is hosting its annual Junior Youth In Policing Leadership Camp and applications will be accepted until Friday July 6, 2018.
The Junior Youth In Policing leadership camp consists of four, free, fun-filled days August 7-10, 2018, where junior students, aged 10-13, participate in various hands-on activities, while receiving positive mentorship and guidance from our 2016 Youth In Policing summer students. Students will learn about policing and gain valuable leadership skills during the program.
The goal of this event is to bridge the gap between youth and police officers and inspire young people to become change agents within their schools and communities. In addition, it facilitates an enriched mentorship experience between our Youth in Policing students and the Junior YIP campers.
At the end of the camp, students were awarded with an official Durham Regional Police Service Jr. YIP Camp completion certificate from Chief Martin to recognize their participation.
Attached is the application form, please print the form, fill it out, scan and return via email to firstname.lastname@example.org before July 6, 2018.
