Cops and Kids Strike Up Some Fun

Jun 08, 2018 09:04 ET

Over $12,000 was raised in the 10th annual ProAction Cops & Kids bowling fundraiser in Oshawa on June 7. This year we tied a record with 30 bowling teams, including five youth teams, all competing for the opportunity to play the Chief's team in the final and to take home the coveted trophy.

This fun night supports ProAction Cops and Kids' various program for our youth within Durham Region. All of these funds play an integral part in funding ProAction Cops and Kids initiatives.

Some teams dressed up in costumes and others created team shirts as they took to their lanes. In total, 20 DRPS teams competed in the event, including teams from the Courts Unit, Major Crime, Communications/911 and all of the divisions. Some of the Divisions brought local youth to help their team.

This annual event provides the opportunity for members of the police to interact with members of the community in a fun and friendly bowling tournament. The money raised helps to positively affect the lives of our community's youth.

Thank you to everyone who raised funds, provided sponsorship and donated prizes, as well as Neb's Fun World for donating the use of the facility.
