The Durham Regional Police Youth In Policing members are hosting their annual "Ripple Effect" Forum on Wednesday July 18, 2018 in Oshawa.
DRPS would like to hear what teens have to say about youth issues and give them the opportunity to form specific plans of action to eliminate negative issues and bring these solutions back to their schools and community. The day consists of engaging keynote speakers and workshops.
Our theme this year is perseverance; to inspire youth within the community to overcome challenges despite the difficulty or delay in achieving success, and to remember that "perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after the other."
Our event is about inspiring youth to become ambassadors of change within their communities, and how the little actions taken today can make a dramatic difference in their lives, and the lives of those around them. We also believe in the power of youth leading youth. This event is facilitated and organized by youth, who want to make a positive difference in their communities.
The conference is open to any youth groups who wish to participate. Students can also earn seven community service hours for their high school diploma. A free pizza lunch is also included. Below are details regarding the event.
