Crime Prevention Week Kicks Off in Pickering

Nov 05, 2018 13:50 ET

Come celebrate Crime Prevention Week in Durham Region at the Pickering Town Centre this week. Starting Monday, November 5 and running until November 9, 2018, DRPS will support Crime Prevention Week with a display in the Pickering Town Centre, upper level, above the food court beside the elevator. The display will consist of various crime prevention tools and tips on how to prevent crime in our neighbourhoods and around the home.

The theme for this year's Crime Prevention Week is Crime Prevention: Help Us Help You. This theme focuses on the important role of law enforcement organizations in working with individuals and groups in their communities to promote crime prevention. The theme conveys the pride police professionals take in helping keep our citizens and communities safe.

DRPS members and volunteers will be there to meet the public and answer questions about crime prevention, personal safety and policing in general.

Everyone is welcome to come out and view the display which will remain at this location daily during mall hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Residents are encouraged to come by and discuss any concerns and to pick up some informational brochures.
